Leading up to the 2016 West Virginia Gubernatorial primary, Create West Virginia held an open forum and invited all the candidates for WV governor to answer challenging questions about the innovation economy. Booth Goodwin and Jeff Kessler attended to answer to this diverse and well educated panel, and the event did a lot to inform the voters, but most importantly opened questions from the public on site and online.
My role was to implement a text system to poll the audience and gauge how well candidates answered the questions. Even with limited signal, the system successfully gave the audience a voice. While projecting the candidate’s rating, I also projected a live Twitter feed displaying the online viewers opinions and monitored it to harvest questions for the candidates.
